About
The Roy Wilcox School community is committed to providing a safe, caring educational environment that motivates, challenges and develops lifelong earners who are socially responsible citizens

Construction of the school was completed in 1961 but it remained vacant until September 1963. When it finally opened it was called Whitesail Elementary School. Mr. Roy Wilcox served as Principal from it’s opening until his retirement in 1976, and at that time the school was renamed in his honour. In June of 2002, Alexander Elementary School was closed and Roy Wilcox Elementary School absorbed the majority of the students and staff from Alexander.
We are all part of the Roy Wilcox Elementary School team. We know that our school is GREAT and we will all try to do our best to maintain our excellent name!
The main purpose of the time our students spend in school is to gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will help them to be successful in future years. In order to accomplish this goal, the staff and student body must work cooperatively as a team. The rules and ways of doing things must be clearly stated, understood and followed by all.
1. LITERACY:
To improve reading at all ages with a focus on skill development and literature appreciation.
2. NUMERACY:
To improve the numeracy skills of our students in
K-7.
3. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND LEADERSHIP:
To encourage social responsibility and leadership
as a means to create an atmosphere in which students will demonstrate acceptance
and respect for one another and their school environment in a safe manner.
